Virgin Mobile Freefest 2009

(August 30; 11a.m.-10p.m.; Merriweather Post Pavilion; 10475 Little Patuxent Pkwy.; Columbia, MD 21044; http://www.virginmobilefestival.com)

The recession has hit us all pretty hard. But the fourth annual Virgin Music Festival doesn’t have to cost a cent. The popular concert, taking place at Merriweather Post Pavillion for one day only, will be offering the concert for free aside from the minimum $5 donation benefiting a charity to fight youth homelessness. The event boasts an A list lineup including Weezer, Franz Ferdinand, Blink-182, Taking Back Sunday, Public Enemy, Girl Talk, The Hold Steady, Mates of State, Jet and The National. Their will also be a dance tent in the back, food, beer and amazing talent. The following three options are the best offers for getting into the quickly selling out show.

1. Get your free ticket with optional $5 per ticket delivery fee or avoid the delivery fee if you pick them up at Will Call at the Merriweather or Club box offices between August 21-28.
2. Purchase a Karma Package which offers packages of $30 that get you a free ticket and T-shirt or $55 will get you 2 tickets and 2 t-shirts. Prices include $5 donations to youth homelessness.
3. Become a Free.I.P. Volunteer at an approved youth homelessness agency before the show and you might just be able to get free seating in VIP!

  1. the recession has hit hard! especially for us students.. Freefest is an awesome idea, bummed I won't make it up there. I use virgin mobile and recently heard about some $10 120 minute deal, but a friend then told me its only avaliable to people who qualify for welfare..? awesome deal, wish it was avaliable to other low income people like students... I'm worried that now everyone will think i'm a "welfare" qualifier when i pull my phone out my pocket.
Does anyone have any more info on this deal/welfare handout?
